fulfill Alex Bain's dream of being the
first autistic to run Prince Edward Island tip
to tip, to raise awareness of autism
and autistic abilities and to fundraise to make Prince Edward Island
a safer place for everyone on the Autism Spectrum.
Monies raised
will go towards bringing Dennis Debbaudt (Police
and Autism and Autism
Risk and Safety Management) to PEI September 27th to educate and train Law
Enforcement officers, First Responders and School
personnel, about how to identify and respond to an autistic person
and teach the many ways that parents
and caregivers can keep their autistic child secure and safe both in
the home and in the community.
Any monies raised
above the amount necessary to make this happen ($20/km) will go towards
Resource
Materials for Islanders.
Educating Law Enforcement,
First Responders, parents, caregivers and other professionals about Autism
will assure proper, adequate and professional responses from professionals
and help make PEI a safer and even more inclusive community for all our
autistic citizens and visitors.
