Name: Jim Kulmacz Interests, hobbies, obsessions, perseverations etc: Watching my 2.5" Casio pocket color tv - It's a stim. I use it like Rain Man used his 4" Sony Watchman in the movie. It allows me to watch my favorite shows at the times I expect them to be on. Use of the tv has kept me oriented with reality and my natural rythms. At times, I risk severe depression if I don't use it when I would ordinarily use it a part of my daily routine. I also like to listen to music on CD. I recently found out how to download MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) files and burn their sounds onto a CD-R to listen to on ordinary CD players. I often listen to a single CD track on repeat for hours - an excellent stim. That would explain why I have been interested in audio tape recording of radio music for almost 40 years - an excellent stim, entirely under my control. I like to take photographs. However, I'm not ready to ditch my film camera in favor of a digital still camera. I would like something simple and inexpensive that doesn't require a computer. Year of birth: 1955 Profession, area of study, etc: Former computer programmer; now on disability retirement because employer would not install procedural accommodations for my autism. Where you live in the world: Central Ohio, USA Marital status, # of kids etc.: Married with 2 adopted sons, born in 1988 and 1989. Comments: On 9/30/2002, I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. However, my wife and I consider me to be HFA (High Functioning Autistic) according to the DSM-IV criteria for Autism. |
